    Houston Rockets Internship Pt 2

I just finished my 3rd week of my internship. 3 weeks ago, I was entirely excited for this internship. I am meeting new people and increasing my network, but it is funny how getting what you ask for can change everything. The business side of sports so far is very slow. I have been doing a lot of grunt work. So far, I have stocked the company fridge with beer, dropped off backpacks at a printing company, dropped off books at elementary school, and did some minor Photoshop work.

With all that being said, I also got to take photos for Toyota. Out of all the monotonous tasks that I have been completing, I now have the right to say I took photos for a corporate representative of Toyota Motors.  On my resume I will showcase that I took photos for a very prestigious corporate event with top of the line Toyota Moto Executives.

While working an internship, you must always realize that these small tasks eventually end up leading to bigger ones. Do not be upset when someone asks you to fill his or her cup with coffee, or go check the mail. Just smile and take it as a learning opportunity to do bigger and more important things.

The internship is definitely slow right now, but I am positive things will increase when the season starts. Currently we are also preparing for the many concerts that will be taking place in December. Beyonce, Kanye West, Jay-Z, Drake and Justin Timberlake are all listed to perform this holiday season and the promotional side of things is already starting to intensify.

What I’ve learned so far is that working in the sports industry definitely has its dull moments and I am fairly positive I will not be doing this forever, but I am happy to be apart of the Houston Rockets front office staff.
